Board of Directors2018-11-01T06:39:10-06:00

There are eleven board positions for the Calgary and District Foster Parents Association. The board of directors holds meetings nine times per year. They are responsible for supporting foster and kinship families, liaising with Child and Family Services and the Alberta Foster Parents Association. They plan and organize events that appeal to a wide variety of families. Fundraising for these activities is also coordinated by the board.

Elections are held each June at an annual general meeting. Each term is a two year commitment with the President, Recording Secretary and 3 Directors elected on even numbered years and the Vice President, Treasurer and remaining Directors on odd.

I and my wife Joanne, have been fostering since April of 2012. We have 7 children and 11 grandchildren. As a professional accountant, I have used my expertise to assist on the board and act as Treasurer since 2013.
Jennifer WelshRecording Secretary
My name is Jen, and along with my husband (and our 3 bio children), I have been fostering for 3 years. In my pre-foster care life, I worked in Oil and Gas, but we always hoped to one day become foster parents. When the timing was finally right, we jumped in with both feet and we’ve never looked back. I have been involved with the CFPA as a Director, and now as Secretary, for 2 years and enjoy being part of a great group of foster parents!
Sue McPhersonDirector

Curtis SikoraDirector
I have been fostering with my wife Erin since 2011 along with our 2 bio children. The CFPA has been an important support for us in bringing our children and families together and helping us connect with those that share similar journeys. I’ve joined the Board of Directors to further serve the CFPA and its members in giving back to an incredible organization and offering my support to our foster families.
Monique McCardleDirector
We have been fostering over 5 years and have really enjoyed all the fun family activities offered to the Calgary Foster Parent Association membership. I am looking forward to contributing to the CFPA as it has given so much to Calgary foster parents over the years.
Joanna BusseDirector
My name is Jo Busse and I’ve been fostering for 9 years, in that time we have added 3 children to our family through adoption:) I decided to join the CFPA board so I could be more involved in helping foster families make amazing connections to other foster families through the activities we do each month! 🙂
